Online strategy sessions really work. Yes, they are different to the times when workshops happen in a city office with colleagues gathering from around the world and yet they can be equally as productive. I spent 3 days alongside Alexandra Mavolwane Wright and Nick Howes recently working on a customer's strategy session with more than 20 people engaged online, cameras on, voices heard and outputs delivered. The picture below shows one of the collaboration tools used to guide the session, miro; the real secret to success was the preparation with the customer beforehand combined with the right mix of exercises in response. The journey on miro reflects the needs of the customer to both create an opportunity for teambuilding alongside the strategy development. One key components of the days was to ensure that everyone’s voice was heard; over these 3 days careful attention was made to the process of facilitation in the online breakout groups and feedback informed us that we succeeded to meet this challenge and more.
